YOU CAN’T HUG A MEMORY

I have this picture of my father

It’s one of my favorites

He is standing next to a small waterfall

On a bridge

Over a river

Wearing his ball cap

And fishing vest

With his pole in his hand

Ready to go

The peace in his smile and eyes

In this photo

Are priceless

They give me much comfort

I keep this picture in a frame over my desk

Sometimes

I talk to him

As if I was there

Standing on the bridge

Holding the camera

Sometimes I can hear

The roar of water

And sometimes

I can believe

I hear his voice

Answering me back
